When I got my pup, I visited her when she was three and five weeks old and the mother was very agitated about us being too close to her puppies. She had to be kept outside or in a separate room, but we could still hear her and it was obvious that this was a bit upsetting to her.
However, when week 8 rolled around to take them home, we actually got to meet he mom and she couldn't care less if we were touching her puppies. Dogs are amazing creatures and how they handle birth and raising their pups is an amazing thing
